kickoffcoverage: - STEELERS WR EMMANUEL SANDERS SIGNS OFFER SHEET FROM PATRIOTS - Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free agent wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders signed an offer sheet from the New England Patriots on Wednesday morning, ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported. According to Schefter’s report, the offer sheet is for one year and $2.5 million.The Steelers now have five days to match the offer and retain Sanders. Otherwise, the Patriots would sign him and surrender their third-round pick in this month’s draft to the Steelers.The Steelers are in dire need for some salary cap space, so they’ll have to get creative to match the offer. As of last week, the Steelers only had $2 million in cap space, so they’ll have to restructure a contract or two to retain Sanders. Since they’ve known of this possibility for a month, there’s a good chance they’re prepared to act quickly if they’d like to retain Sanders.The 5-foot-11, 186-pounder was a third-round pick by the Steelers in 2010. In 2012 had career highs last season with 44 receptions and 626 yards. He has five career touchdowns. Plus, Sanders also has limited experience returning kicks and punts.
